My First Pet Peeve

My first pet peeve is this website.  It claims to be easy, but I had trouble even after watching the tutorial!  There are not enough background choices to personalize my blog, but then again it's free!

The reason I started this blog is because any time I leave the house I run into people and situations that are very irritating, frustrating, aggravating.  I think we all experience these things on a daily basis.  Hell, sometimes I don't even have to leave the house!  Just this week for example, my Black and Decker 4 slice toaster broke one month after the warranty.  My DSL service was intermittent all day Tuesday and that was irritating because last month I went 9 days without phone or DSL service.  I have become very good at writing letters of complaint and making phone calls to get satisfaction.  I wrote to Black and Decker and low and behold they decided despite being one month past the warranty, they would replace my toaster.  And after calling Verizon, they sent me a new router overnight to replace the malfunctioning one.

I am trying to teach my girls to be more assertive and complain when they aren't getting what they pay for.  You'd be surprised how much money I have saved by voicing my opinion or complaining to the right people.  If you don't, these companies will totally take advantage of you.  If you take anything away from this blog it is to SPEAK UP until you get satisfaction!

  1. You are so right. I regret all the times I gave up before even trying to get satisfaction from purchases of products or services. I just assumed that I would lose. Now I fight just like you! I learned this from my older son who insists on getting his money's worth. Kinda backwards, I know. But we can learn from our kids, too.

  2. Carmen, I learned it from my mother. She was always very careful with money and she would never let anyone take adbantage of her. She was also very good a haggling prices down. I remember one day when she met me for lunch years ago. A vendor on the street was selling sunglasses 3 for $10. I liked them so she told him I'll give you $5 for 3 pair. They went back and forth and finally she said no and started walking...well he called her back and gave her the 3 pair LOL. I have done the same thing when I went shopping for the furniture for our first apartment, when we got married. You'd be surprised at the discounts I got.
