Kristen Lindsay, DVM, Cat Murderer . . .

One picture worth 1,000 words
(below this post was the picture of Kristen holding up cat)

By now half the world must have seen the picture posted on facebook of Dr. Kristen Lindsey, DVM, grinning as she is holding up the body of a cat, arrow shot through it’s head (some say the poor cat, Tiger, was still alive), jokingly asking for the veterinarian of the year award. I’ve been “obsessed” with the story the past three days, or so my daughter says. I don’t know why I can’t move on. Maybe it’s because it makes no sense and my mind keeps trying to find ways to force it to make sense. I can’t.

There are so many disturbing facts about this that frankly I don’t even know which one upsets me more. The fact that an innocent cat, somebody’s pet, was shot through the head for “sport.” The fact that a veterinarian, someone who took an oath to protect and help animals, was the shooter. The fact that the veterinarian held up the cat’s body and posed for a picture with her “trophy” bragging about her great aim. The fact that the poor cat, some say from the position of its legs, may have been still alive. The fact that her mother and father witnessed it, and her mother proudly boasted she took the picture so it wasn’t photoshopped. The fact that the veterinarian showed absolutely no remorse, but instead a cocky attitude that she would never be fired because she is awesome. The fact that someone happened upon an old blog post Kristen wrote in 2011, while in veterinarian school, saying, “Current interests . . . Killing things or trying to kill things (animals . . .).” The fact that she reactivated her facebook account not to post an apology, but to say, “I’m ignoring all the death threats. Insulting me doesn’t make you any better. Thanks for the support guys - feeling thankful.”

Washington Animal Clinic, where Kristen worked, issued an immediate statement saying they did not condone Kristen’s actions and were firing her. They also put duct tape over her name on the business sign in hopes of calming the angry outburst directed at them causing their website to crash. I have no idea whether or not anyone at the clinic knew of Kristen’s dark side. I would certainly hope not. They’ve done what they can do. I noticed that they did deactivate their facebook page since this incident happened. So they are suffering some fallout out over her actions. The sheriff is doing an investigation. Kristen and her lawyer are supposed to come in and speak with him early this week. For me, this is an open and shut case for animal cruelty, the evidence is all over the internet. But, there has to be due process. Her lawyer will probably have to work on some kind of defense. I read the Texas law on animal cruelty and it’s penalties. I am a little concerned that her lawyer will be able to spin this into an “accidental” shooting, in which case nothing may be done. Or, if they cannot prove the cat belonged to someone and was homeless, the cat may not be protected by the law. The evidence shows that the act was intentional and people have come forward to say the cat was the pet of an elderly couple. The investigation has to determine what is the truth before pressing any charges.

Meanwhile, there are petitions out there calling for the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to suspend her license to practice. I have seen responses from the board saying they are looking into the matter. If this doesn’t get her license revoked, I don’t know what would? I mean, who in the world could or would trust their precious pet with a doctor who loves to kill animals and has killed an innocent animal? Kristen also posted, “The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through its head.” I wonder if there were more posts on her facebook page indicating she has done this sort of thing before? And, her own college was appalled and issued their own statement of disgust with her actions. Everyone wants to distance themselves from Kristen Lindsey. I can’t blame them. She is a disgrace to the profession. She is a disgrace as a human being.

So I sit here and wonder what in the world would make a young woman, who graduated veterinary school in 2012 and swore to protect animals, kill an innocent cat for fun and enjoyment and brag about it? Something must be very wrong with her mentally. Killing innocent animals is the kind of behavior that has been attributed to serial killers and psychopaths. Showing no remorse? Bragging? Whatever happens with this case, I think she needs some psychiatric testing. I hope no one’s pet died while under her care at the clinic because, if I was their owner, I would be forever wondering if she had a hand in it.

  1. What would make her do it is she is a psychopath. Yes, the clinic was aware. She is supposedly the daughter-in-law of the owner of the clinic (probably why she was so sure she would not be fired), and the manager of the clinic, Misty Short, also posted an encouraging comment to Kristen regarding her killing the cat, but she has not been fired. Another vet, Keri Camp, who works at the Equine Veterinary Associates of Olive Branch, also was happily concurring with Kristen's actions. These people are just arrogant trash. I would not allow my animals anywhere near people such as this, and I'm sure Kristen had reason to think the whole clinic would back her up. Since there was such an outrage against her disgusting, immoral and illegal action, they didn't, and pretended that they, too, were appalled. Vet schools SHOULD have psychiatric testing prior to admitting - then people like Kristen would hopefully not have a chance to be around decent people's pets, and hurt, kill or maim them because she enjoys it. The vet practice she worked at is toast. She destroyed it. And that's what they get for not being upstanding veterinarians and decent human beings who actually care about animals, and employ people who do the same. People like that are messed up and you will never understand them, because you have compassion and empathy for animals, and all they care about is doing whatever they want and getting away with it.

    1. Thank you for commenting. I wish more people from the area, who know those involved, would shed light on the situation. Those who made positive comments and work with animals should also be fired and or investigated.

  2. Hi, lets not forget the mindset of the individuals who have stood up for her, the ones who say 'thats what we do here, and the city folks need to mind their own business'. Sad.

  4. The vet clinic did not give a damn until calls from outraged, horrified people started pouring in. I am sure if the degree of public outrage had not been what it was, they would have ignored the situation and carried on. The sudden firing and disassociation from the psycho's actions was nothing but damage control, as evidenced by the fact that it took them two days to get rid of her. If they'd been truly outraged, they would have fired her as soon as the story broke.

Plus, Misty Short was not fired even though she enthusiastically supported the psycho's actions, She also answered the first outraged calls that came in and laughingly told callers to "calm down". Apparently, she thought the cat murder and resulting outrage was hilarious.

It makes my skin crawl to think about all the helpless cats left in these people's care. Who knows what awful things they've done behind closed doors when they proudly show such horrific conduct in public. Also, since psycho's parents were right there, they are accessories to a crime and should also be prosecuted. That entire family is sick and demented and needs to be dealt with.

    1. I can understand your outrage. I imagine many clients who have taken their pets to that clinic during Kristen's emplyment have many questions, especially those who lost their pets. A lot of disturbing information has surfaced since the incident happened. I was not aware it too them two days to fire her. Someone should be raising questions about Misty in the media as well. I can tell you that Keri Camp, who also posted a supportive comment, is a DVM and a petition has recently been started to revoke her license for condoning Kristen's horrific actions.

  5. Yikes, I was tired and really angry last night, sorry for all the "outrages". Yes, I was aware of the other vet's facebook approval. I don't think much, if anything, can be done to her because she was not directly involved. But hopefully her support of this cruelty will make her employers and clients think twice about trusting her with their animals. Personally, I would not patronize any clinic associated with her.

This one really hits home because we don't live too far from Brenham, and because 2 of our kitties resemble poor Tiger. They are indoor cats now, but were both strays in our neighborhood before they adopted us. So the same thing could have happened to them if that piece of human waste lived around here. That thought makes my blood boil.

The entire situation is just horrible and sad and depressing. Anyone who does something like that to an animal is mentally and morally defective and reprehensible. But for a vet, who is supposed to heal and help animals, to do it and pose and grin and gloat is even more repulsive and mind-boggling. She is a revolting, vile creep and there is no defending her. And the same goes for all of her supporters, including her equally disgusting parents.

    1. Agree, there seems to be a whole lot of sick people in this country, maybe drugs, third generation? That wench should've taken a psychology degree instead to get her head cleared!!

  6. the sad fact is that a lot of people consider cats to be strictly target practice. a large number of dog owners feel that way. having had cats
for 45 years, I've heard hundreds of nasty comments about cats. the people supporting her are, I am sure, applauding the elimination of another useless cat. I have 13 cats right now. all indoor and very much loved. the one I loved most in my life, died two years ago. he was orange and white which made Lindsey's picture and smile so much harder to see. no matter what happens to her, she will always be proud of what she did to "Tiger" and will have a lot of support from a lot of other hideous "people". she claims to love God, but she has overlooked Proverbs 12:10.

  7. In honor of the cat that was killed, we need to occasionally post her name and link to these stories. So that it doesn't go away for a long long time. She is gross.

  8. Where does this person live? I want to avoid living near her! My cat looks just like Tiger and he got out by accident a couple days ago. I would die if someone shot him and posted a picture of his body. I found a facebook page with her name and it looks like her but said she's moved to Ocala, FL? Why do people hate cats so much? They don't have to have one but they can't go around killing them!

  9. I believe she is currently staying with her parents in the state of Washington. She hasn't said much since the public outrage started.
